Dining guide for Barcelona

Local Cuisine

Catalan cuisine is mainly combined with one key ingredient, that is olive oil. Garlic and tomatoes are other key ingredients as well as excellent seafood. A big tradition in Barcelona are the tapas. They were actually generated in southern Spain, where waiters would cover ("tapar") a class of wine with a small portion of food. Many tapas bars are located in Ciutat Vella, the old part of the town. The majority of these, offer tapas in a chill-out atmosphere.
