Shopping in Brussels
The city is full of chocolate shops where you will be able to find any kind of chocolate that you can imagine and at the same time admire spectacular creations made exclusively by chocolate. The chocolate shops around the 'Grand' Place' stay open until 9 or 10 in the evening.
Belgium is known all over the world for its beer. Nowadays there are numerous beer shops around the 'Grand' Place' where you can taste most of the Belgian beers. Typical for Brussels are the fruity beers (cherry, raspberry, peach and other).
Lace is the most popular souvenir of Brussels. You can find plenty of lace shops all around Brussels. From there you can not only buy laces but tapestries also.
In Belgium comic strips have become something like the 7th art, thanks to the popularity of comic strips characters like Tintin. The Comic Strip museum has an excellent shop, where you can buy comic strip albums in different languages, as well as different items with comic strip heroes on them, for example ties, T-shirts, keyhangers, towels, underwear, etc.
On the Sablon square is the antiques market. Every day there is a flea market at the 'Place du Jeu de balles/Vossenplein' near the palace of Justice. On Sundays there are numerous food-markets. The most important ones are situated near Place Bara (Midi station) and at the Slaughterhouse (Abattoir) of the suburb of Anderlecht.
