Shopping in Madrid

Madrid is one of the few European capitals that continues to offer affordable options, without underestimating quality and having the eccentric flair which is unique to Spanish fashion. Downtown, shops are located along Gran Via and around the Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol.

Exclusive shops

El Barrio de Salamanca is the place to go for haute couture shops. The majority of the shops are housed in small exclusive boutiques. Brands like Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent, Armani, Carolina Herrera and many more have their exclusive shops here.


La Vaguada shopping gallery is located in the northern part of the city and consists of over 350 stores (you can reach it by metro, stop at Barrio del Pilar).

El Corte Ingles,is the famous department store of Spain that can be found at locations all over the city center. You will be able to find anything from home and design to clothing and food.

Flea markets

For flea market bargains head to El Rastro on Sunday mornings. The flea market closes around 2 pm. Located along the street Ribera de Curtidores, (metro La Latina) is a great opportunity to mix with the locals and find interesting items to buy.
